So this place was my first event that I attended to.  At first, I got lost looking for it, so I was about to turn around, but decided to give it one more chance (silly me, was so focused in driving and not looking the signs). I finally got there. The place is nothing like outside, once you get inside, it pretty cool. I think is a great place to hang out with friends and chill out.
I want to thank Aunny for setting the event, hope more will come. The people that I met were nice and great (make me felt welcomed, big thnxs).

Ok, before I write this review I have to say I've met the owner Doug, ah well he was my bartender of course I've met the guy, but we are not friends I mean friends-friends you know what do I mean don't you?!?!
So it's ok to write this review in my book at least...
This bar is a nice spot in East Hollywood...There is a nice lounge area for people to just chill and upstairs loft if you want to make out with someone special or not so special ;) Bathroom was very clean, that's important and there was plenty of TP...
My bartender Doug made me very good drink, just the way I like it, he can follow directions I was glad about that, cause most people in LA can't ... Karaoke was going on and I don't do karaoke, I would love to but I suck so bad I wouldn't want Doug to loose all his customers... haha
It's fun place to visit! The only sugestion I would have for Doug to throw in some drink specials so locals would frequent this place more often and maybe have few draft beers...
It's all about fun and I've had a blast!
Cheers!

So I went here this past Saturday.  My bf and I think it's Korean owned. . .the bouncers were Korean and a few bartenders were Asian too.  There was this ancient electronic Korean game in a glass case in the room that fascinated me with its blinking lights and flashing red signs and bubble words.  I slipped in a quarter and then the screen changed.  Excited, my boyfriend and I tried pressing all the buttons. . .but to no avail.  The damn machine ate my quarter and never gave me the satisfaction of playing a game I didn't know how to play!  And it never gave me my money back =(  If it was broken . . . how come it didn't have any problems at all taking my coin???

There is also a bar with a bunch of beers on "tap."  Excited yet again, my boyfriend saw they still had Ocktoberfest??  Too good to be true?  Yup, that tap machine thing is only for decor guys.  They only have bottled beer.  Oh, and the taps are facing backwards, not towards the bar like it's supposed to.  It kinda takes up a good space on the bar and I feel like it blocks you from view.  Esp. when it gets crowded and you're trying to push your way to the bar to get drinks. . .only to get overshadowed by the useless tap device =(

OH!  Another excitement level that deflated all too soon: El Humidore!!!  Sweet, they sell cigars???  My boyfriend and I peek in. . .empty.  So yeah. . .they have a game machine that doesn't work, a tap that is empty and facing backwards, and a cigar vending machine that would be a sweet idea . . .a la JLounge, but no, it doesn't work either.  Not here guys.  And in the middle of nowhere on Sunset, with $6 beers. . . I'd choose any other lounge on the strip, thankyouverymuch.

This place is a gold mine and by that I mean it's money. If you don't get what that means either well then you're somewhat retarded and we can't hang out. I came here about a month ago and got to meet the owner Doug. He's a cool guy. I was mentioning to him that my birthday was coming up and we needed a chill spot to come too and he told me to let him know as the date was getting closer and he'd set something up.

So I told my friends about this place and they wanted to check it out firsthand so we went on a Friday night. Not too many people here but Doug was there and we got to meet Johnny the bartender, another cool dood. With the drinks flowing and the karaoke machine blasting, how could anyone not have fun?

We had our birthday party here this past Saturday and Doug was very accommodating. He even made it a somewhat private event and only let people in that knew us. Tight. Vagina tight. Needless to say, all of my friends including me had a freakin' blast. I look super drunk in all my pictures. I honestly love this bar, it's gonna be our new hang out spot. I'm even willing to name my firstborn Goose as an ode to this bar and Anthony Edwards from Top Gun, one of my favorite movies. Thanks again Johnny and Doug for showing me a good time. Wait, that was kinda gay, kinda really gay.

"It's time..."

BGL is a Yelp institution.  It's not a 100 year old historical landmark but it's definitely the place to be initiated into the Yelp community.  So, it's time for a Yelper to Yelp the Yelp Institution.

Tucked into the corner next to a leather shoe repair store and a fake chanel clothes store, BGL is a non-descript brick building that reminds me of the house of bricks from the "Three Little Pigs."   The parking may be small but you can easily make due accross the street, on the side street, and at the "hidden spot."  Sorry, not sharing that because if I did, then I couldn't park there again.

BGL is true to it's humble Yelp roots with an owner (Doug) who did his original market research on  Yelp.  You'll have to become his friend if you want to hear the story.  BGL is not only the home to Yelpers but also hosts private parties.  There are no hoity-toity party promoters here...

With scattered leather couches and a Korean/Japanese/English karaoke machine, BGL is comfortably fun.  There's a second floor balcony to look down for the trolls and cushy bar stools.  Looks closely enough and the soft orange ambient glow doesn't hide the phallic secrets well...

Yesterday, I had VIP leather seats to watch the Lakers lose in Game 1 to the Celtics.  It really is a great venue to watch sports because you can either be in the game up close or hide by the bar and talk.  One person (and you know who you are) would say that I really did have the best seat in the house....

I've been to BGL for sports games, karaoke, casual drinking, casual uye's, and more...The bartenders are like old school chums and are just down-to-earth (Johnny, you really have the best voice for With or Without you...)

BGL and Yelp Family, it's like the home you always want to go to and never leave to be with the people that actually can put up with you....

Oh, and they have Johnny Walker Black poured with a free hand... =)

And for all you noobs out there, don't be shy...If there was ever a time and place to stick out your hand to meet someone...this is it!

Yeah sure, a UYE staple, but sorry folks, not feeling the love.

I loved, loved, loved seeing my Yelp friends and playing catch-up. I loved that people of Yelp got to finally meet the elusive and grumpy Skraggle- see peeps- I really didn't make him up, he is a real live human and not a blow up doll. It was so awesome to see Sam, Joan, Masa, Corazon, Edgar, Buttercheeks and others.

Here is the bottom line.

I am sure this place is cool and awesome if you are a well known Yelper and you personally know the owner, however, if you are not, you will more than likely get the kind of service I got from the bartender, Emily. Unacceptable at any location, despite who you don't know.

By the time I got a drink outta her, I was seriously pissed and thirsty. I shouldn't have to work that damn hard for a drink and then end up with a drink of my third choice. Nope, not feeling the love and believe me, I was open minded enough tonight to feel all kinds of loving.

Having been in the service Industry for a long time, I can still sniff out a good bar when I see one. My prediction is this bar will last as long as its love affair with Yelp is alive and kicking, but once the sheen of that relationship fades, unless it does something to not piss off its non-Yelping patrons, this bar will be yesterday's fad along with shoulder pads and members only jackets.

This is not a bar I will go out of my way to frequent.

It's Sunday night, what am I doing at a bar?  (wait, don't answer that, I'm gonna tell ya)

Welcoming home Sam Y from his two month tour from around the country!

So, there was this huge party where lots of interesting stuff happened but I suppose I should really review the bar.

a) limited parking.  Get there early- like before the owner Doug and pretend you weren't going to really steal his spot.  Thanks Mama Yelp for pointing that out to me. Luckily, there were still some spaces in the strip mall parking lot.  I've heard rumors you can also park at the neighboring strip mall as all the business are closed but I wouldn't take my word on that.

b) the entrance is on the side of the building.  Thanks Doug for ushering me in.

c) Call drinks- $10.  Vodka tonics by Emily were decent with Belvedere.  I tasted someone's well vodka tonic ($8) later...ahhh, I'll stick with my Bel.  I would like to kindly suggest using lime wedges though. This girl does not like dinky slices of lime.  Cape Cods with Hanger One Mandarin, not bad!  Dirty martinis- oh no...too much vermouth.  Back to vodka tonics!

d) Restroom- through a double set of doors.  There's only one stall but I never found a line.  Yes!

e) dance floor- too tiny for this dancing queen.  The couches are comfy but I never sat down!

f) music- great!  I heard the Killers and She Wants Revenge which are bands I love.  There was more hip hop at the end though which was better to dance to.

g) karaoke.  Oh no, I'm out.  I love ya, Sammy boy, but you know I don't do karaoke.

h) Great times!  It was almost like an elite yelp event because all the different faces of yelp were represented this night.  Huzzah, what a party!

This one's for the birthday boy, Greg "The Guwapo Gansta" A, whose night of debauchery started at the Curry Palace, staggered on to the Blue Goose Lounge, and ended in a pool of vomit at Jumbo's Clown Room, clutching a fistful of dollar bills. (http://www.yelp.com/ev...)

(To the tune of Elvis' "Blue Suede Shoes")

"Well, it's one for the curry,
Two for the blow,
Three for the hookers,
Now go, Greg, go.

But don't you barf in the Blue Goose Lounge.
It's your birthday tonight but don't you barf in the Blue Goose Lounge.

Well, you can rock the mic,
Get shit faced,
Shake your booty
In front of Joan's face.

Do anything that you want to do, but uh-uh,
Greg, lay off of the booze.
Don't you barf in the Blue Goose Lounge.
You can do anything but don't you barf in the Blue Goose Lounge.

You can go to Jumbo's,
Smoke some pot,
Puke on a stripper
Who you think is hot.

Do anything that you want to do, but uh-uh,
Greg, lay off of the booze.
Don't you barf in the Blue Goose Lounge.
You can do anything but don't you barf in the Blue Goose Lounge."

The Guwapo Gangsta has left the building. I think he's in the gutter.

Happy birthday Greg!

Things I learned at BGL.

Don't judge a book by its cover. Strip mall doesnt always equal lame.
There are still nice bartenders in Hollywood. (Hi Emily!)
Greg can actually pull off a pink cowgirl hat, but Chico looks better in it!
Amy and Linden should start a lounge act.
Rick R. has really pretty eyes, and Rick W. has great skin.
Edward B. is a black hearted cur, dark to the core.
Victoria looks really cute in bunny ears.
Mike L. is so much taller than I expected.
Jill can SING, oh yes, she can sing.
Joan S. knows how to shake her moneymaker.
Christopher S. has the most amazing facial control, ever.
Being the DD isn't so bad.

Epic events indeed. See photos.

What to add to what everyone has already said?

Um.....

well....

I like it?

Great space?

Dougggg is super cool?

Greg A, although I am still unsure what he does about the lounge, is also pretty darn cool?

Johnny F is a hard working bartender who made us re-drinks when the first tasted flat?

Has anyone said any of this already? I am sure it's been done so I will save everyone from redundancy. Showed up last night randomly for my first time and was immediately welcomed like I had gone there 1000 times before. The music was a touch loud but at least it was Dre and other good hip hop tunes.  Plenty of seating but I was at the bar, right where I wanted to be, amongst good friends I already knew and ones I had just met.

It's that kind of place -- cool, yet warm. Yep, I know that's an odd statement but that is the perfect description of a night at BGL.

With 118 reviews, no one will probably notice mine.

Since everyone already covered the main points of BGL, I'll just focus on things that appeal to me.

First off ... the staff. Got to love their staff. Emily is a sweetheart and is always smiling. Not only does she remembers you, but remembers what you had and how you had it. Now I like to believe that's because I made an impression, but I bet you she's just awesome that way. Kevin is also great. I have no idea if he works there or not, but he's usually there and will take care of you. Doug, the owner, will also make you feel like you're VIP. (especially if you're a cute girl - lol, sorry Doug) It's like going to your friend's place where they have shit load of liquor and charge you for it. :D (Remember to tip big, they deserve it!)

Second off.... karaoke. I never sang in front of people and actually used to despise it. BGL took my karaoke cherry without consent. I was drunk and was forced to sing. And now you can't shut me up. Doug and Kevin made it easy for someone who's a bit shy and really got me into it. I really appreciate it, because I've been to a few places with karaoke since then and always had a lot of fun. I don't think I would have been able to loosen up if it wasn't for BGL. Being surrounded by great people at BGL also helped me get over my stage fright.

Everyone else covered the basics, so I'm going to stop here. Just remember, if you want a fun night with a few good friends ... stop by Blue Goose Lounge. I also hear they serve food now, though I haven't tried it yet.

People of Yelp don't hate me because I know this is a Yelp favorite.

I wasn't sure to make of this bar.  The location and the size tell me it should be a dive bar but it also has karaoke.  When I came on a Saturday night, there were two bartenders; a cute blonde girl and a metro guy.  The bartenders were alright but they could have been a bit more talkative or friendlier since it was empty.  However, it goes both ways so I must have given that don't talk to the girl with the accent vibe.

My opinion of  a bar is directly proportional to the crowd.  However, I couldn't judge it because it was empty at around 10:30pm and we left an hour later.  I'm not sure how much more potential there is since I am not crazy about the karaoke crowd because I have a terrible voice.

Also, they need to open up a better smoker's lounge because the few people there were outside in the front smokking rather than inside.

I'm all about supporting local bars, but I couldn't figure this place out. It has a good floor space with couches in the middle, maybe they should re-arrange and dance it up in there. The decor is confusing; it's kinda Sunset Strip-ish, eclectic, clean and creative but then there's a TV with a karaoke system. I dig karaoke but you don't mix it in with a normal club. It would ruin a vibe by interrupting like that. There's a private room that is separated by a glass door, but it's too closed off, why not make it private tables? Who wants to be locked up in a room like that? And there's an upper level area with tables and chairs but in a club those areas are always 130 degrees up towards the ceiling. Just a weird layout and undecided vibe, crowd was well-dressed, sorta prep entertainment industry types, not my type of place but I wish them luck.

Great spot for a birthday party!!  Damn...mine just passed.
My faith in Yelp is renewed again after meeting another great group of people:
Rick W, Chico, Elise, Mike, Amy, Jill, Victoria, Chris, Roman (again), Doug, Greg and of course Joan!
All cool people with jokes, stories and great convo. Maybe it was the booze, but who cares. A good time is a good time!

And thanks to Greg A. for the best "intro" of the night.
Me- Hi ya doin' Greg, Happy birthday.  I'm Rick R.
Greg- Oh you're the asshole who said who's Greg online?"
Me-  Uhhhm yeah,  nice to meet u too
Greg- (laughing his ass off)  It's good
Me- You're a cool cat.

All the ladies were more beautiful in person than the pics on their profiles, very friendly, and good sports.
The guys?  Ehh, who cares.  They were alright I guess.  Doug, for getting me to sing in public...damn you!  I shall see you again soon.

Great drinks, karaoke, cool bartenders, nice decor and cool people made for a lovely night.

So Uncle Rick keep mentioning BGL and how he always go there. . . and how Doug (the owner) is supper cool & nice.  Just thumb up. . . atmosphere is great, the people are supper nice & friendly. . .

"If you ever need a place for a party, BGL can be a consideration. Doug will take care of you guys like VIPs, he will personally bring out a big plate of fruits as complements, who else does that?"

duck... duck..... duck......................... GOOOOOOOOSE!!!!! Blue Goose that is.

Don't let the name get you down cause its anything but. Located on Sunset in East Hollywood this bar is a gem. From the outside you'd think it was a dive until you walk in, an empty cigar humidor to the left with an entrance to a private lounge, furnished with modern white seating all around. Then straight ahead is the the bar, winding your way to the right are the " bachelor" lounge sofas, an upstairs loft and even a smoking area for you tobac-hos.
You can't go wrong here and trust me, I've tried.

Stiff drinks, great ambiance and a karaoke machine that gets let loose LATER into the night. (Thank god!) Karaoke is good and all but not ALL night so I love that this place doesn't bust out the mike until after a few rounds.

A person can learn a little more about them self at this bar.
Heres a partial list of my rules in life:
- put VERY little above family and friends
- reply "you're welcome" when someone says thank you, not "uh huh"
- floss daily
- don't karaoke

Especially a karaoke machine that gives you a number grading from 0 to 100 after you sing...getting judged by the world is enough, let alone from a karaoke box, right?
...UNTIL the Goose, where I didn't just sing one but two songs!   Not only did I have a great time singing but the screen popped up a score of 100 for both songs!!!
Laa-dee-freakin-daa, who would've guessed!?! (Doug, I still think the machine is rigged but you know what, that works for me!!) Don't forget to check out the donke... I mean the Eeyores!

GO GOOSE! And you know how the game goes... so don't walk, run yo ass there!

What can I say about a local bar that EVERYBODY loves.  This was my first time here and well first impressions from the outside has nothing to do with the inside.  At first glance it looks like warehouse and I was pretty confused on how to get in.  The front door by the parking does not open and I had to wonder around the side to get in.  Inside the place it has a very cool vibe.  All in all a great place....totally worth going back.

It seems like every fourth or fifth time I come here, they're closed!  Probably because I come at 7PM...yeah...I'm an early bird.  The main thing I like about this place is that's it's cozy.  The upstairs is the perfect place for a bunch of old high school and jr high (!) buddies to catch up after four years at separate colleges.  The drinks are strong and averagely priced for Hollywood.  There wasn't anything remarkable, like Belgian on-tap, but hey, when you just want some Buds and a Jack & Coke, this place is for you.

Honestly, the karoake's kind of annoying, which would prevent me from coming on another night, but when it's your old buddy who used to be a boy scout is now hollaring in drunken hilarity on a karoake machine, you won't complain.

I really wonder what time they open though...I feel like this place is perfect when it's quiet.

This place is great. The owner is friendly and  awesome. The bartenders might try a little harder to get your business and sometimes forget your drink order, but hey... they are constantly working. I just wish the price of a well Gin and Tonic is not NINE dollars.

We had a lot of fun the first couple times there...the bartenders were eager to please and gave us free strawberries. But, I will never go back there. The place was almost empty and the bartenders seemed to be as friendly as ever. One of them offered to buy us shots, although we weren't really planning on taking shots, we couldn't turn down free ones! And, even though they refused to serve us beer because it was almost closing time, it was still all right. When the bill came, turns out they charged us for the shots. The owner's excuse was that he was only joking...even though he watched the bartender pour each shot.  And, the place has beer taps....with no beer. I mean, c'mon!!

Any bar that makes a Tom Collins with sweet and sour and 7Up rather than lime juice and seltzer water immediately must be docked a star. I guess it's not that common a drink these days, but I couldn't help wishing I was at the Dresden when I saw the bottle of yellow stuff in the bartender's hand. Still, it was purty strong and the glasses are generous enough that the $7 tab wasn't unwarranted.

That's really my only beef with this place though. Being a Tuesday night it was pretty dead, but I never mind that-it's the perfect atmosphere for a good chat, and it's hard to want or expect more late on a weeknight. The set up of the place is nice, perfect for people who are looking to relax and hang out with friends, rather than show up with their wingmen looking to meet someone new. There's enough variety to keep everyone happy-wrought iron chandelier feet away from a karaoke machine, and who wouldn't love the Eeyores everywhere? It somehow all works together without feeling confused, I guess because there really is no pretentiousness or scene here, which is just how I likes it.

I'm starting to think that some of the elite yelpers own stock in this bar.  I was drinking at Tiki Ti this past weekend and watching those bartenders make 90 some odd Tiki drink concoctions from memory only reinforced my opinion that BGL (as it's affectionately known) needs better bartenders.  The last time I was there, I was ordering a round for my friends and I (Mandarin and Tonic and Stoli Razz and Tonic), only to have the bartender say Absolut Mandarin.  I briefly contemplated doing an extremely poor Jack Nicholson from a Few Good Men impersonation by saying "Is there another kind", but I decided to just say yes Absolut Mandarin.  Apparently she couldn't find the bottles and decided that her bar didn't carry either of the drinks I requested so she asked if I'd ever ordered that drink there before, I said yeah, we ordered them about 20 minutes ago (okay seriously if you can't make a Mandarin and Tonic you might want to consider a career change,  I can only imagine the problems that would have arose had I ordered a drink with more than 2 ingredients).  After another bartender found the bottles for her, she was like so what else goes in that (oh boy), but to end on a positive note, at least she poured a stiff drink, and drink prices were pretty reasonable.  As for the place itself, it's cozy, with a couple of comfy couches.  What could be a smoking patio needs to be cleaned up, but on the bright side I've found parking easy (since I just park in the loading zone parking right across the street from the entrance).  I'll give BGL (using the abbreviation out of laziness not affection)  2 stars, it's an average place with below average bartending.

Alcohol+karaoke+cool people = a lovely evening yo!!!

this place literally had me at "Hello"....and by that, i mean the Lionel Richie song in karaoke (which i sang and got a 100 rating...oh what!). this place is awesome. it's a regular hangout spot for my homies and me.

the owners are cool, the people are all chill and the drinks aren't expensive like at other places. BGL is a good place to hangout through the night, and a great place to end the night after bar-hopping.

i'm pretty sure if Jesus Christ himself was around...you'd see him singing "Sweet Caroline" at BGL!!!

I hate this place. The dumbass owner, the weirdo chef, the creepy poker players. I hated it...

I'm kidding, theyre gonna come after me now =[
Anyhow went here to hang out and I got to eat some fries and chicken nuggets, which were pretty good,yo. Nice and crispy, good honey mustard sauce. AND the chef even brought it out to me in a cute little hat. The atmosphere is really chill, not so hoity toity snobbiness like the rest of LA. There's different feelings in every section, You got the hollywood feeling in the room with all the white couches, The VIP kinda feeling upstairs on the balcony, and the chill area in front of the bar. Theres karaoke for the drunks and emos.

The bartender is ever so sweet. I liked the music playing. Nothing too hip, nothing too boring, just music everyone can enjoy.

The outside is misleading. The place looks like a biker bar from the outside. I thought I was gonna get shot outside, but once you step inside, it's totally different. It's a homey feeling.

As I was leaving, we ran into a couple of other Yelpers. One of which was , Rick W., who looked at me like I was about to devour his face or some shit. He was speechless and looked like he was gonna piss his pants.

Later I found out it was because he didn't think I was a real person, that my pictures were fake. HA! I is teh realness, yo! ahahahah!

As much as I hate those guys, I love em =]

xoxo

I came to BGL for my second round this past Friday after dinner and I decided I have a solid review now to give this place... So here's my definition of BGL..

Blue Goose Lounge:

1. a: A local bar in Los Angeles, CA on Sunset & Kinsley.
b: One of the most down-to-earth bars in Southern California.
c: Neatly, comfortable and stylish furnished lounge sofas with an
ambient that truly defines "Lounge", that plenty of Hollywood
       "lounges" lack of nowadays.
d: Relaxing and eye-pleasing decor and lighting that sets the mood
just right in addition to its plentiful space for seating.
e: Very friendly, welcoming and unpretentious bartenders.
f: Entertainment supplied with a karaoke machine in the center of
the room which adds great social energy in the room.
g: Somewhat pricey for drinks but balanced off due to it being well
made and stiff. (Just the way I like my drinks)

Oh and I didn't plan on singing but lets just say, a courtesy shot of Patron = Me sining "Back at One" by Brian McKnight.... I heart this place!

This ain't no disco
It ain't no country club either
This is The BGL!

"All I wanna do is have a little fun before I die,"
Says the man next to me out of nowhere
It's apropos
Of nothing
He says his name's Omar but I'm sure,
He's Bill or Billy or Mac or Buddy
And I wonder if he's ever had a day of fun in his whole
life
We are drinking beer at noon on Tuesday
In a bar that faces a giant car wash
The good people of the world are washing their cars
On their lunch break, hosing and scrubbing
As best they can in skirts in suits

They drive their shiny Lexus and Benzos
Back to the phone company, the record store too
Well, they're nothing like Billy and me, cause

All I wanna do is have some fun
I got a feeling I'm not the only one
All I wanna do is have some fun
I got a feeling I'm not the only one
All I wanna do is have some fun
Until the sun comes up over Santa Monica Boulevard...

That's the song that was running through my head as we headed over to the BGL from Cham Sut Gol on Santa Monica Boulevard . We passed a few car washes, a few bars, and met a lot of the beautiful people of LA Yelp.

The BGL is no ordinary lounge. It completes the trinity.... Dragon Lounge, Broken Record, BGL. While a little far for a pub crawl from SF, it should definitely be on the map to the stars. A perfect stranger shared her food with us. Perfect strangers opened up their watering hole to us with open arms. We hung out and felt like we knew each other for years. How many places do you know that have 2 TWO ROTDs???

The Blue Goose Lounge is definitely on my list of places to go when I'm in LA again. But next time I'll bring a Tom Tom GPS thingie so I'm actually seeing the sights of LA because I want to, not because I'm lost on one of their 2,450,316 freeways.

How can I not be partially biased since rating BGL is a bit like rating your own child, as BGL is, in fact, the official, non official Yelp hang-out. That being said, there is a strange story about my first visit I must share.

When I was a young teen, I raced motorcycles and at one point broke my leg pretty badly. Stuck in bed for months, I got a CB radio to entertain myself and joined the local Hollywood CB community. There really is no difference between the threads on Yelp and the community where you "meet" people on the CB radio. After awhile, you want to meet these people you interact with. On CB, they would have gatherings called "breaks." Months after I got to know people on the CB, (Channel 2), I wanted to meet them face to face and finally did at what they called "The Burnt Weenie Sandwich Break"

I left the CB in the 80's where it belongs, but all these years later, I found myself getting to know people on the Yelp threads and after awhile, of course, I wanted to meet these people just as I had over two decades ago on the CB. For my first of several visits now, I put BGL's address in my car's GPS and it guided me up Vine, and East on Sunset on my way to finally meet Yelpers I had been interacting with for months at this point. I remember thinking, meeting strangers that I already know feels exactly like the first day meeting my CB friends, finally putting a face and hand shake to the names.

I pulled into the BGL parking lot and almost freaked the hell out. The fact is, the very first CB break where I met all those people for the very first time, was caddy-corner from BGL and right in front of me. Shakey's Pizza. Deja vu!!! LA has some 450 square miles and I end up at the very same intersection. Now that's freaky!

The Goose is cozy and fun. Doug at the helm runs a fun little ship. Drinks are great, although I'm not much of a drinker. Space is great, nice outside area, loft area and comfy couches. There is karaoke even though there is not a single fiber in my being that understands the appeal of it, but everyone there gets a good laugh and that makes it ok and fun!. Its turning into my Friday spot!

I've always loved Jagermeister, but BGL gave me first Jager-bomb. Loved it, thanks Doug!

So I came here after reading many rave reviews and a lot of yelpers gathering here for binge drinking, I mean socializing...

Let's see, I rolled up in the Black Widow

35 dollars on drinks
80 dollars on the cab ride back home

And the Black Widow?  She spent the night at BGL...

Stiff drinks, a bit on the pricey side, but then you aren't getting a drop of gin in your drink.  I was forced to sing my first night there...

I am definitely going back to this place!!

well i came here with a few friends on a friday nite and was kinda surprised to see it was kinda dead. BUT, i was a bit relieved because it was a good change of pace from the typical crowded bars with drunken tards talking so loud that deaf people would tell them to stfu, lol.

the place was very chill, just a few people singing karaoke and enjoying a few rounds with friends. there were plenty of couches to chill on as people attempted to sing pop songs and cheesy love songs. this is definitely a nice place to bring a few friends to unwind after a long week.
i also got to meet the owner and played a bit of poker for my friend as i heard someone belt out "you're all i ever wanted, you're all i ever needed, yea, so tell me what to do now, cuz i want you back". backstreet's back, not right. lol.

So apparently I sang Bon Jovi's Dead or Alive.  AWESOME!

And I think I kissed all my favorite people on the lips.  Apparently.

Also, I did vodka shots...apparently.

oh oh, apparently, I stood on a barstool and waved vigorously at the people on the second floor loft.

somehow I spend 50 bucks on two drinks...apparently.

and...apparently somethings happened that I don't remember.  Apparently.

Again, anyone who knows me knows not only am I not a clubber, I'm also not a bar hopper.  So take this review for what you will.  (I just HAD to write it so I can actually say I went to the infamous BGL.)

Yes...the outside is a bit skeptical looking...but the inside, very cool.  Liked the brick wall decor, dim lighting, comfy leather couches and hooks under the bar for our purses.  I also liked that even when the music was playing, you could still hear the person you're talking to.  Can't stand those places where you're trying to have a conversation shouting at the top of your lungs.

I must say, the drinks are on the pricier end and not stiff at all...but hey, I'm a light weight, so that's probably a good thing for me anyway.

You can't beat the crowd of cool Yelpers who came out for Sam's One Last Cry.  The people behind the bar...Tiffany, Kevin and of course Doug...all so kind.  I love going to places where you feel welcomed, even if it IS your first time.
