The ice cream was great, but.... There was a bug in my sister's Pomegranate Sorbet. They gave her a new scoop. But shouldn't they offer her a free scoop or something? My lavender ice cream taste great at first, but after awhile, I feel like I was eating lotion. It was still good though... just strange.

This is a great alternative to Scoops in the dog days of summer.
Nestled in a courtyard on Maryland and next to one of my favorite sushi spots, stands this unique ice cream shop.
I tried the creamy rosewater and rosewater saffron which were both really good. The kind server gave me a huge scoop of delectable ice cream in a cute cup and I enjoyed it inside the air conditioned space. Don't come here and get a regular ol' flavor so try something new.
There is lots of cute seating inside including articles about the ever so popular ice cream and they accept cards. They're also open late but keep in mind there closed on Monday.
My bf and I were wondering what was up with the mustard and ketchup containers all over the place. Curiosity led me to ask and was told that they are syrups that go on certain ice cream. Mystery solved!
it's like eating your aromatherapy!
ahhh, yummy and creamy rosewater icecream....so good especially with the syrup they provide on the tables :)
my bf says the strawberry cheesecake is just OK, fyi....i havent tried it....

I really liked the idea of exotic flavors like rosewater and lavendar but when I actually tasted them, blech!
However, I chose the peanut butter ice cream. It tasted like frozen peanut butter with chunks of chocolate. I LOVED it because I love peanut butter. My friend had the pomegranate sorbet and my other friend had the cookies and cream. I definitely would come back. It's much tastier than Scoops. The ice cream was the perfect dense consistency, the way ice cream should be.
I also appreciated how big the scoops were! And they validate so parking is free for 1/2 an hour.
This is one of the best ice cream I've had as it is so unique in flavor and tastes very good. My favorite is the creamy rosewater ice cream! It is very creamy and light as well compared to other American ice creams. I come here all the time as it is 10 minutes away. The service is friendly and I've met the owner before, as he often works the front counter.
Parking is validated too!

Corazon and I have been trying to go here together forever. But I just couldn't wait any longer for our schedules to magically coincide!
I was in Glendale last Thursday and suddenly realized I was right around the corner from Mashti Malone's. Well, actually, I didn't realize I was around the corner and spent ten minutes walking up and down the block before I finally looked up the address on my Blackberry. Helpful hint: it's in the courtyard alley off Maryland; it doesn't face the street.
I tasted a few flavors and settled on two scoops: ginger rosewater and lavender. Surprisingly sophisticated for ice cream, it was deliciously creamy and aromatic to the last lick. I sat in the sunshine eating this lovely treat and it made me feel like a million bucks.
Why four stars? Well, the guy behind the counter was nice, but not any nicer than he had to be, in my opinion. If the staff was a tad friendlier (a la Scoops), it would definitely put them in the five star category.

One star for being closed on Mondays. According to the Yelp profile I reviewed today, this place is open on Mondays, so on my day off from work I decide to stop by. I called and there was no answer. That should have been a clue but I dismissed it (there was no answering machine or outgoing message either) After being out in 100 degree Glendale heat , not realizing that this place is tucked away in a pseudo alleyway shopping mall, I finally find it, ecstatic in the prospects of finding an ice cream Oasis in the heat. My Rosewater grin quickly turned into a frown as I saw the big handwritten sign mocking my quest...
CLOSED MONDAYS
I've updated the business profile, and I look forward to the day when I can give them more stars.

FOUR Stars! This ice cream is amazing! I of course had to try to Rosewater saffron with pistachios which was incredible. The flavors were very subtle and they all worked well together. I took home the peanut butter cup for my husband, and sadly the poor man didn't have a chance! It was creamy and decadent. Here, the hype is deserved. I can't wait to try the Faloudeh someday.

If most people like it, I usually don't -- but ice cream is ice cream.
To my surprise, the place wasn't thriving with nit-picky tasters or over-enthused scoopers.. instead: one man, several flavors, and me.
The shop, placid. The ice cream, good. Around 2.50 for a single scoop of exotic creaminess is fine by me. But I couldn't stop comparing.. 1 scoop of Mashti Malone's vs. 3 delightful scoops of Thrifties mint-chip.. I think all can agree Thrifties can spot Malone's 4 scoops and a cheery topless scooper.. no chance in life.

There is just something I liked about having my ice cream smell nicer than my candles. I can't described it, but when it taste and smell good... you'll know how I feel about it.
This small little ice cream store is a bit different from the one that is located in Hollywood. First thing first, about the non-smiling girl I encountered, it was replaced a very smiling and friendly man. His friendliness was a little contagious. Second, the shop didn't have that heavy smell like the one in Hollywood. When I was last visited the La Brea Tar Pit, it have that heavy odor I couldn't overcome, but not at this place.
It seemed like the newer environment gave it a cleaner experience I thought. It was more tidy I thought also.
When you get inside the shop, you immediately want to check out the lavender, the ginger rosewater, and Faloudeh. The latter is like a noodle in your ice cream cone as described by Kerry K.
I tend like the creamy Rosewater the best because of its smooth wet texture and the Sweet taste to it. I tried the Saffron once and couldn't decipher if I like it or not. It's weird having that as a flavor. It does smell good though. LOL
If you ever get a chance, do try the Orange Blossom. That is like my new flavor to try because of a tangy taste.
I love the consistency in the flavors. The textures of Mashti Malone's ice cream are always smooth and unique. It something that need to try at least once to taste something extraordinary that is coming from an ice cream.
If you do come here, please don't waste it by ordering strawberry or vanilla, or some plain flavor. Try one of their Rosewater flavors and you'll get the kick in the taste buds you'll never experience before.
Plus your tongue will smell good too.

There is nothing I like better than a local ice cream shop, with lots of interesting (and some may say weird) flavors. Everywhere I am, I try to find the best local ice cream shop, so that I'm not stuck going to the typical chains (Cold Stone, Marble Slab, Ben & Jerry's, Baskin' Robbins...).
Well, this place definitely fits the bill! It has a great mix of more typical flavors, as well as some very interesting exotic flavors, such as Rosewater Saffron with Pistachios. And the ice cream is wonderful! Plus, the space is nice...there are several tables inside to sit at, as well as some benches outside. Plus, I believe they have free wireless internet.
(The only reason I couldn't give it 5 stars is that it doesn't quite live up to the best ice cream in the world...Jake's Ice Cream in Atlanta, GA.)
Absolutely one of the best ice cream in town. Great service, i tried many flavors and they don't really mind.
Good stuff!

Well I don't know about this place. They have all these weird flavors which I guess are okay. But they're not exactly what I was looking for. I want chocolate! and other creamy goodness in that near vicinity. The pomegranate sorbet wasn't bad...but that's exactly what it is...just sorbet. If you're looking for the creamy fattening type of ice cream, this is not the place for you, like it wasn't for me.

I'm not sure what the butterfat percentage is here. I think it's pretty high though.
This is creamy delightful ICE CREAM.
With exotic flavors that are very tantilizing. You don't think it could work...but it does! Rosewater, saffron, Orange blossom, if the middle east had more ice I think we could create a peaceful world for everyone! Ice cream will make anyone happy! And for the non-milk eaters, the sorbets are fabulous and some have crazy little thingies in them that they explain to me every time and i promptly forget.

Question: What is the absolute best thing you can treat your parched throat to after a few hard hours of rollerblading in the late July sun?
Answer: Mashti Malone's herbal slush with lemon juice and sour cherry syrup.
So good, I wanted to stick my head in the herbal slush bucket.

I stopped by here with my mother. She and I are also willing to try a dessert place at least once. When we got there, we were looking at their ice cream flavors. We saw things like ginger rosewater, different teas and flowers. There was something made of rice starch that we tried. It was stringy and a little chewy. Their slushes are good. Their service is awesome and the line is usually short and moves quickly. This is fun for a treat.

I love this place! I have been going, avidly, since I moved to Los Angeles 10 years ago. The bubblegum ice cream is absolutly the best!
Orange blossom is really good!
After parking in the structure off of Maryland, it was just a short walk to Mashti's Malone. It was warm inside, which I love when I eat ice cream. I become terribly cold and shivery when I eat ice cream. There's also an upstairs part, so it was even warmer there.
I bought a couple of youngsters with me to try out the ice cream. They ordered the regular, conventional stuff, fearing the unknown. I got a taste of their chocolate chip, which was quite different from the familiar version. I suppose that even if you order a familiar flavor, you're going to get Mashti Malone's interpretation of that flavor. One of the kids didn't like his ice cream at all, while the more adventurous youngster loved hers and my orange blossom as well.
I think it takes some getting used to. First off, I notice the texture is different from traditional American ice cream--not as creamy and more icy. Orange blossom wasn't overwhelmingly sweet, but refreshing and light in an floral way. One scoop was quite enough for me though since the man behind the counter was pretty generous.
He was actually pretty nice. I noticed that he was really patient with the customers before me as they took sample after sample. Unfortunately, I was in a bit of a hurry, so I didn't sample the other varieties.
I'd really like to come back soon. The place is conveniently located near lots of other restaurants and venues as well as the 210 freeway. Mashti's also validates parking, but the Maryland lot already gives you 30 minutes for free.

Best place for a cold and sweet treat.
Everything I have tried has been fantastic!
I don't feel incredibly guilty for eating here for some reason.
I would die for the rosewater saffron right now...mmmm...
I must have tried 5 or 6 flavors! That's great service! They included the rosewater ice and herbal slush. The herbal slush was good, but the rosewater ice was gross. That's suprising because I like the rosewater ice cream. I guess that fatty cream makes all the difference. I enjoyed my coconut pineapple ice cream. There were chunks of coconut in the ice cream. Yum. My friend got the peanut butter chocolate. It tasted like Reese's. I enjoy this place. They validate parking too so park in the parking structure next door.

I'm really not an ice cream person. That said, I love this place! The orange blossom and the rosewater saffron are my favorites, and I'd eat 'em every day if that was really an option. So if this place could make me, a non-ice cream lover, love again, think of what it could do for you!
This is a fairly new location for the original Mashti Malone's ice cream parlour on La Brea in Los Angeles, founded by two creative and enterprising Iranian brothers.
Here you can indulge in heavenly Persian ice cream flavours like: rosewater saffron with pistachios, orange blossom, ginger rosewater, lavender, herbal snow with basil seeds, or rose sorbet with faloudeh. Faloudeh is made from rice starch that forms chewy strings the colour and consistency of shredded coconut.
They have your standard flavours too, but why bother when there are so many exotic choices that will rock your taste buds.
The rosewater saffron bursts with saffron, cardamom, and rosewater essence and is an excellent start for a treat adventure.

Yummy yummy, in my tummy. After a feast at Sushi On Brand, my lunch partners and I strolled over to this famous Iranian-American establishment. The woman working there was a sveeeetkhart, and she obliged in giving me several samples. I tried the pomegranate ice. Delicious but I wanted something creamy. Then I tried the rosewater ice cream. Delicious as well, but something with less sugar. The green tea ice cream was juuuuuuuuuuust right. Slap that sucker on a waffle cone and I didn't even care that I had to go back to work in 5 minutes =).

This is one of my favorite places in the world.
First of all, do not come here and order chocolate, vanilla, or any generic flavor you can find anywhere else.
What you do want is to try a scoop of orange blossom with faloudeh. I guarantee you'll experience pleasure in a way you never knew ice cream could make you feel. The same goes with any of the other exotice flavors such as rosewater saffron, etc.
If you happen to be in Hollywood, their original location is located by La Brea and Sunset.
