They almost never run out of donuts.
They price their donuts fairly (i.e., ridiculously damn cheap).
They almost always have my delicious raspberry-jelly filled donut on hand.
They didn't laugh too hard when I got overly excited looking at the donuts and bonked my head on the glass.

Just went there this morning. Had to go back and buy s dozen for only $4.75. These donuts don't fry in oil that has an aftertaste like nasty Dunkin Donuts. And there still only $.50, light, fluffy and fresh. Friendly service too.

OMG Pronto's! My aunt used to live pretty close to Pronto's and on my way home (about 2 miles away) my mom would take my sister and me to Pronto's for their orange chicken. We were ADDICTED.
Eventually my mother and her unique tactic of raising her five children brought home a catering size foil pan of orange chicken and said we can eat it every day for dinner as long as it lasted... we got through 2 meals of it and were DONE with Pronto's and their orange chicken
As for their donuts, they will do... the last time I had a donut from pronto's a 20 year old guy was buying me and my 16 year old high school friends donuts...I guess there are worse things teenagers could have been doing besides eating donuts from strangers.
Til this day I still can only stomach small portions of orange chicken.

I used to walk here from my Grandma's house with 50 cents in my pocket. That was over 25 years ago. I can still can. This place is a sometimes Chinese take out and a full time donut walk up. Like those places in the Mid-Wilshire area of town. The donuts are not greasy, they are fluffy and moist and the cake donuts are soo good you'll are glad you walked here in the first place.

I feel so guilty. I confess to eating 2 donuts today. All before 9AM. Not just the chocolate covered old fashioned, but also a maple glazed donut. But I have a good reason! Those freshly baked donuts were so tempting in the window... and only 50 cents each...how could I resist? And everyone else was doing it too!

Oooooh, guilty little secret. But--occasionally, and in disguise--YUM.

i've been in this donut craze lately. i gotta havem! all the time! other than yelp, all i've been doing at work is fantasize about the doughy goodness squishing between just the right amount of chocolate frosting altogether in me chops.
mmmmm hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
so when a fellow pirate HINTED at some extra time to get dolled up for last night's festivities, i took this opportunity to stop by for some yummy, deep fried treats.
i arrived here in the evening and the main entrance was closed..... but they're still open? there was a little window on the side that slid up. that was where the donut guy took my order. now what does that say about the area i am at when they close the main entrance and serve up their goods through a walk up window at night? it says i'm in the right place for a damn good donut!
no chocolate rounds or glazed twists left, so i ordered up a chocolate frosted twist and a crumb round. $1.15.
now, this donut house was a referral from george, who has lived in pasadena since the dawn of time and knows all the whereabouts of the good grubbin'. so i was highly disappointed when i bit into the chocolate frosted twist and the dough was not as doughy as i had anticipated it to be. it was almost light and fluffy as a cream puff shell. which would have been great if i had ordered a cream puff.
but i didn't. i ordered a donut from a donut house. helloooooooooooooo
the crumb was on the dry side, albeit i did buy it at 8 o'clock at night, but it didn't even have remnants of what could have been a great donut. on the bright side - the chocolate frosting was quite chocolatey and was frosted a generous amount.
i'm not sure if i will return to this establishment. maybe if george REALLY insists, but i doubt it.
so it's 12 hours later and my thirst for donuts goes yet unquenched. someone gimme a donut - pronto!
