They have a very inviting dinosaur statue out on the sidewalk. For that alone, this place gets five stars in my book.
TI Gurley Antiques is a like a museum antique oddities. My boyfriend is pretty much obsessed with this place, in a good way. Every week I come home to some curiosity from here. The latest addition from TI Gurley was a beautiful 1920's blue glass lab bottle with it's label still attached, that I had been coveting. The building this store is housed in is old and great. Everything in here is gorgeous and weird.
They have a very impressive selection of vintage industrial goods that I love to bits. They have tons of old steel molds, machine age goodies, and old mad scientist stuff. I am in love with a huge vintage circus poster they have there. I like to come in and visit this poster every so often.
This store is pricey, but it's worth it because of the rare objects (pristine art nouveau Tiffany lamps, a gigantic statue of some sort of Egyptian Pharaoh and everything including the kitchen sink - which is probably exquisite and from the mid 1800's). Out in back they have a lot of really interesting wrought iron and vintage garden and fountain doo-dads that a lot of people seem to like and avidly collect.
A cool place to check out, for the sheer randomness of it's offerings.
